As Arthur mentioned, the guidance in abq was to avoid removing member functions from classes. Removing iostreams operators should be fine.

I'm not thrilled with that decision, but the classes I am losing aren't that big of a deal. I have written lots of code without string view in the past, and will be able to go without it. Maybe future papers can fix it.

Re: floats
One of my hopes with this proposal was to make it easier to port libraries between freestanding targets. Saving and loading the floating point state would make
