I think an interpolated string literal can be defined in such a way that it is an expression, and still allow "streaming" performance w.r.t. to ostream - as outlined in my last post. It still does seem reasonable to me to treat this as having a= type and interacting with the rest of the type system, but if such was not= your intent I also don't want to drag your proposal in a priori unwant= ed directions. I'm guessing others will have the same reflex, that bein= g said, so it's probably a wise choice to treat this question in the pr= oposal.
